In this 4-session course we will learn and practice the basics of mindfulness and particularly how it can help us relate differently to stress and increase wellbeing. This is an introductory course open to newcomers or to anyone who would like to continue their practice in a group setting.
This class is for native speakers of English or anyone with a mid-high level of English who would like to join.
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is a practice that involves opening your awareness and intentionally placing your attention on what is happening here and now in your body, mind and feelings as well as in the world around you, with an attitude of kindness and non-judging.
Mindfulness practice is known for its many potential benefits, including:
• developing emotional intelligence and improving our relationships at work and at home
• developing the ability to detect our automatic reactions to life's events and learn to respond rather than to react unconsciously
• cultivating self-awareness - awareness of the nature of our body, mind and emotions
• developing focus and concentration and the ability to be in the moment
• providing skillful tools to deal with difficulty, stress and anxiety
• increasing overall wellbeing
